Look, there's a lot of hype about 2.6RC, but is it really worth it? To me, it sounds like the developers are sacrificing much of what KLite really stands for in order to make the software "legal". And the CleanKMD's...what are those about? I have CleanKMD 2.44 running right now, and it's the exact same as KLite 2.44 (or maybe 2.43). Speaking of which, I can't find KLite (or, as some call it, K++) 2.44 anywhere anymore. What happened to the in between versions?

And then there's "Resurrection" and "KCeasy" and what not. I'm all about open-source, but...isn't this getting a little out of hand? Maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

What ARE the major distinctions between all these different flavors anyway? How diverse can you get?

On an unrelated note, I'm thinking of switching to an open-source browser. Which is better, Mozilla or Opera? Or something else?

KLite 2.44 has all the tools updated ( k-dat, kl-extensions , etc )

The '' Resurrection '' thingy its just Kazaa Lite 2.4.3 with new tools added , you can do it by yourself adding new utilities like MP3 Shield, GSpot, etc...... :lol:

KCeasy is a open source client that can connect to a lot of networks : Gnutella ( Limewire , Bearshare ) , Gift , Fastrack ( Kazaa, Imesh ) etc..

Get Mozilla Firefox. :)

Dont' bother with Ressurection or Klite 2.4.4 , like i said you can update the utilities by yourself , go to klitetools.com , filesharing section .Get eMule or Bittorent cause are better than everything for movies or apps.For music Clean Blubster.

Isn't Firefox still in beta? I don't want an unstable browser. Besides, what's so bad about regular Mozilla? Anyway thanks for your commentary, it was relatively helpful. I want to hear more of what other people think.

PS: Nevermind the KCeasy bit, I just found out that the latest version threw out the FastTrack network b/c the developer got a nasty letter from Sharman.

Firefox is not beta and blows up all the browsers, if you get KCeasy 0.11 version you still can conect to Fastrack without any problem :) , the last version 0.12 don't have Fastrack pugin.

I really don't see how download links for 2.44 are "advertising"; this IS the KL board, afterall. Besides, people advertise other sites in their signatures all the time. And yes, the pinned topic still only has links for 2.43 (and 2.6 which is apparently crappy), many of which no longer work. An update would be nice.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess Clean2.6 is decent. Wonder if I should switch?

Moving on...I am behind a university firewalled network, and thus, while Klite does work for me, my download speeds are relatively sluggish, normally peaking at only 5 Kb/s. I would like to know what the best p2p program is for my situation, unless Klite is it and I should just deal with it. File types I normally look for are music and movies. And I cannot use any program that requires I share my own files (e.g. DirectConnect), because the firewall also prevents that...unless someone has a workaround for this problem.

PS: I still don't see why you had a problem with Lite posting a link for 2.44, jetje.

how does that in anyway suggest that 2.6 is crappy? ;), all the klites' 2.6/ressurection/2.43/2,44, are all going to pretty much download at the same speed. there all klite, 2.44 is the same as 2.43. it just has update tools, such as ip updater 1.3 instead of 1.2, and updates on other tools that YOU probally wont even use/they wont make your downloads faster. however, klite 2.6 is based on the KMD 2.6 so it is the newest.

Ah yes argueing,joy;NeWhoo,if ressurection is jsut a copy of k-lite 2.4.3 with updated tools and clean KMD palin old sux,and KMD 2.6 sucks then why would u want k-lite 2.6?why doesnt every1 stay with the best version?k-lite 2.4.3!sure if ur lazy go with 2.4.4 but hell i dont even use any of the tools! :lol: and cum on jetje,no links in posts?GIVE IT A REST ITS A KL BOARD! :rolleyes:

I think the reason for the development of a K-Lite 2.6 was because of the fear that Sharman would start blocking earlier versions of KMD (and hence K-Lite) from the network.

Well, it's been 4 months now and this threat hasn't materialised, like alot of Sharman announcements it seems like it's nothing but hot air...

I'd agree that it's foolish to use a later "inferior" client when the earlier versions still work fine.

...but that's only my opinion! :)

U kno even if sharman DID block out k-lite versions to the network,u kno sum1 would eventually get around it :D with the amount of talented and smart people on this baord!(many of u,muscle man,nightstalker,4th gen(tho i think u suck)and others)liek they say,less is more(msot of the time... :rolleyes: not with my gf atleast :P )

btw next time would you care to think about your language don´t know your age but there are some youngsters on the forum... also it would look a bit nicer and as far as i know you already been warned once for abusive language... ;)
