I've actually been doing a bit of perfect diskin myself these last few hours, my hd is chocca had to uninstall ut to do it :( must back up must back up......
I just need to get a bigger 2nd drive then I can just use that for storage and leave my other one alone
also got a 250Gb network drive so if I need to reinstall or whatever I can shunt all my stuff onto that as a temporary measure :)
that was my plan originally, then people started making new things that I didn't have....damn them
what size hd you got?
I have an 80Gb which has most of my stuff on and a 28Gb which has my music collection on :)
i have 1 hard drive installed thats 150Gigs and i have another 200 but i dont know how to put it in :(
Its relatively easy :)Quote:

 oops
take the side off your case there wil be two leads sticking into your existing hd, the smaller one with lots of colourful single wires sticking in it is a power cable the other is your ide cable. at the back of your hd there is a pin jumper setting for slave and master ensure that your existing hd is set to master and set your new one to slave. On your ide cable sticking into your existing hd there will be another attachment somewhere down the cable pop that into your new hd and stick in a power cable there should be a couple unattached ones coming from your power source. that's it ....basically. If you are gonna do it let me or someone know and you can get links to picture based walkthroughs and extra advice as there are options as to what way you set up your cabling, but it is pretty much as simple as that........presuming it is a second ide ata type hd and not a sata. Professor dan do you concur with my blurb? :)
You don't need to bother doing the fdisk stuff I don't think
Its simple, you screw it in your pc, attach the ide cable. boot up your pc and press f11 or whatever to enter the bios, pick up the drive in there and you're good :)
I could be really wrong here cos I haven't actually done it myslef
dammit
stop it
 feck off with the spam, I am trying to explain something :PQuote:

I have done it and given my stupidity it was pretty straigtforward (4th gen helped me ;) )
you might not need the f11 thing as xp autodetects the new device so all you have to do is format using the inbuilt disk management tool in xp, also very straightforward, just a click. :)
and how to cook a pizza, essential not to mix em up. :helpsmile:Quote:
