well i saw someone post something on neowin that nvidia was more expensive and generally had more features than ati cards, but ati had more bang for the buck...which reminded me of AMD and Intel...
so, here is the question:
do you guys think Nvidia is like Intel, or is ATI like intel? and which is like AMD? or are they both like one of those CPU manufacturers...?
For me its hard to relate one with the other for some reason. :huh:

i'd say intel is pc, and amd is linux...
amd is more bang for your buck, intel is just highly overpriced but "more supported" (more supported as in, people advertise that their systems have a p4, but don't mention their system if they have an amd)...

i was gonna use that exact example. i dont think any are quite hippy enough to be linux though.
the difference is microsoft completely dominate and macs are almost a niche but with intel and AMD... theres little between them for people who know a bit of what theyre doing, intel are always BUY OUR PRODUCT, IT MAKES YOUR DICK BIGGER! - SWISSSHHHH, DINGDING DODING!

intel used to have commercials, usually right when a new pentium number is out (i remember those blue guys with teh 3, then the ones with the 4, you guys remember?)
amd has never had a commercial (that i've seen)...

i always think about comparing eveyrthing with computers...this one was computers with computers...
would u beleive that in my transportation tech class last year i was thinking they should use thermal paste between the parts of the engine block :blink:

VB, how is nvidia more bang for your buck? Nvidias high end cards cost the same as ATIs...
I'm thinking it goes something like this:
ATI=AMD
Nvidia=Intel
now heres my explanation:
ATI is generaly faster and better then Nvidia which goes along with the more bang for your buck type statement, that same statement fits perfectly with AMD.
Nvidia is generaly overpriced junk that you hear about everywhere, Intel is exactly the same without the junk part.
So:
ATI -faster but cheap and more power for your dollar
AMD -Cheaper but also more power for your dollar
Nvidia -Less bang for your buck
Intel -More expensive but faster, less bang for your buck tho

Well, i been thinking about it, and m final decision is that ndividia is like intel, and amd is like ati. ATI gives awsome performance for its price, which is what AMD does. Nvidia offers less performance for the same money, which is what intel does.
