your heatsink used to hum????
sorry, the cpu heatsink. i just think its out of place since ive been tinkering with it. im thinking of buying a new heatsink since my one was a bit loud neway, ne suggestions for a new 1 thats reasonably priced and quite silent? (living in the uk) for a P4 1.5ghz. any brands i should look into?
tnx

Maybe it's the fan not the heatsink.
Heatsinks are passive, fans are active.
i was hoping my hint woulda been strong enough......... anyway, if its a HSF (HeatSink and Fan) ur lookin for, check tomshareware.com , they have sum great reviews, look around a lil bit........ it really depends on ur needs (as with everything)
to get rid of teh noise, you could just buy another 60mm fan, or better yet an 80mm fan and a 80mm to 60mm fan adaptor. :)
Maybe it was sound interference from another fan.
That sometimes happens when they are slightly out of sync. :P
When you say that your HS "hums" did you mean hum like the Andrews Sisters or hum like Monica Lewinski?
Just curious. ;)
 Humming heatsinks. Now that's an interesting subject. :P
I'd like to hear that.
I thought they all buzzed.

ok as u can probs tell im not a massive expert on cpu cooling, as suggested i'll probs replace the fan, but it seems the fan is connected directly to the psu, is it a problem?
no, not a problem, just unplug it, then plug the new one in. :)Quote:
