Have you got ports forwarded? That is normally the reason for the yellow light, you might also want to cap your uplaod a bit while you are downloading, normaly 90% of your total upload limit is good, otherwise you may be flooding your connection
per bittornado.com:
To everyone turning super-seed on by default:
PLEASE DON'T.
When lots of people on a torrent use super-seed,
it greatly reduces the torrent's efficiency.
The only people who should be using super-seed
are those doing initial seeding or re-seeding.
At this point it appears you are in the stages of downloading or should we say leeching...so along with the above perhaps you should change settings as well.
if you understood how it worked you wouldn't think so, see that big yellow light
forward your ports dumbass
fucking noobs
dont complain if u dont know how to use it and bt is a protocol :P
BitTorrent with that yellow light, horrible upload speeds, and nonexistant download speeds is telling you that your computer is broken.Quote:

Undo the superseed and experiment with the settings until you find a setting that works for you. If using a router make sure your ports are forwarded correctly portforward.com. Running xp firewall, turn it off, use another firewall program. Already using another firewall, perhaps check into configuring to allow ports for BT use. In the end you will find what works and be able to enjoy the BT life

Please dont bash on it until after you know how to work it and get chit set up.
In my expirience, this is the best file sharing tool. My highest speed was just over 450 kB/s, maxing out my connection.
With a good torrent that has many seeds and a high seeder-to-peer ratio, I will get atleast 200 kB/s almost every time. It depends on the seeder's speed, your connection speed, and how many others are on.
man it was just a fucking joke , and whats up with you , what if i were downloading gay stuf , is that bad , does it make me a bad perosn , am i going to hell for that , i pitty the fool.Quote:

BitTorrent with that yellow light, horrible upload speeds, and nonexistant download speeds is telling you that your computer is broken.
BitTorrent is 'saying' with that yellow light that SOMETHING is FIREWALLING your connection.
That something is either a problem on your computer, a bad/misconfigured software firewall app, a router, Win XP's hopeless built-in firewall, possibly a crazy ADSL/Cablemodem that has a firewall/router built into it, or worse still your ISP is screwing over BitTorrent's performance.
NONE of these causes are a fault of the BitTorrent program itself, they are all a part of your computer/connection setup.
In short, something's "broken" and it's not BitTorrent.
Maybe you never noticed this problem with other p2p programs, but the problem is THERE and it causes significant problems with BitTorrent.
Many online games for instance cannot work with firewalled/behind a router connections at all. Generally, you cannot host online games if your connection is firewalled.
BitTorrent isn't much different -- if you're firewalled, it'll LOOK like it sucks because you can only download and upload to nonfirewalled people... and due to user ignorance, they are probably the minority.
yeah, I agree with you. Don't use it if your just gonna complain, and not read the manual :rolleyes:Quote:

fucking noobs
and bittorrent = best file sharing ever
why? cause unlike things like kazaa/winmx and normal ftp off servers, more users = faster for everyone, go to the site you downloaded off and look at the documentation, or go to http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/introduction.html there and look at the pretty pictures, they explain why it doesnt suck
and NEVER bash BT again, else i eat you.
Man, you got to learn to make it work. There is a less chance of a false file or a virus, Better speeds, I can get a DVDR 4.7 GB. movie ready to burn to DVD in less than a day and thats on a bad day...
If you have a problem just ask for some help...
Posts by vegeta make me laugh.
I forwarded my ports for bit torrent, 6881-6999, correnclty and it still is giving me the yellow light.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
It was working fine yesterday. but today it won't go pass 3kbps.
maybe you should forward 6881 to 6889 correctly
http://www.portforward.com/
turn off any built in firewalls (xp)
make sure you have allowed it in any software firewalls (zone alarm/NIS)
says mr fast tracker, dude u dont even countQuote:

The faqs told me that after a certain version of bittorrent more ports were being used so i tried opening those and still nothing.
no firewalls, no zone alarm.
thanks for the response. anyone else have any ideas?
i dont get it.
it still gives me a yellow light but it's going.
can this be a bug?
http://img43.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img43&image=Image53.jpg
see.
How can I fix this?
first time I have used this client.
ok, great.
now it's not working again.
you probably didn't forward the correct ip
yeah, that's probably itQuote:

I don't belive I did.
it's the right ip. right port range. it's set on TCP.
can you name some other ports I could try out.
you can use any ports you want, but you have to change your clients default ports (in preferences) then you have to forward the same ports in your router
then its recommended you re-boot for changes to take affect
ok, thanks.
well, it still gives me a yellow light. but it does move. slowly at 15 kbps. before my router. i was hitting 150. any ideas?
tip : dont use suprnova
(if thats where it came from)
try just plugging in the modem line directly into your computer, re-boot then try to download something
if its green you didn't forward correctly
if its still yellow, then its internal, firewall or something
tip: that has shit all to do with his situationQuote:

doesn't matter where he gets the torrent if his CLIENT tells him hes being firewalled/choked
Yeah, no problem if I do that.Quote:
