It's the first one since I switched.
It figures that it's for windows users only. :P
Thanks.
Can't wait till Firefox v1 comes out, wanna see what they change. :)

Haha,
well...nobody's gonna write perfect code the first time <_<
every app on the earth has version numbers for just that reason...bug fixes, etc.
At least with Mozilla it's not large, gaping security holes just waiting to be exploited, and only patched when used by some worm or virus.
Installed, thanks!
BOT
Very, very usefull posting. Thnx!!!
Wow - I thought I'd never see a security update for Firefox :o
Then again, the fix was created a day after the vulnerability was made public, so it's still evident the Mozilla guys are still working like crazy :D
time to move on to firefox 0.9.2
gildan2020
Thanks, duly installed :DQuote:

if you haven't patched already, you can see examples of the scary things that can happen to your computer here: http://www.mccanless.us/mozilla/mozilla_bugs.htm
I decided to install 9.2 instead, seems just a bit different since 0.8 :o
Good post.
Does anyone see something weird with this?

I had to try this out. With the patch, I couldn't see the first three links and the fourth one opens an empty box. To test without the patch, in about:config, I changed the value of network.protocol-handler.external.shell from false to true.Quote:

The first three links now show up and did exactly what it says. The fourth one caused multiple firefox windows to open and used up all cpu. I hit the disconnect button on my modem and end task twice on firefox.exe to recover.
I need to change that back to false NOW! :P
edit: it was the third link that showed and opened an empty box

0.9.1 was released June 24. It fixed several bugs, mostly with extension manager, and changed some of the button icons.
0.9.2, released July 8, is the same as 0.9.1 except it comes with the security patch installed.
Downloading 0.9 at mozilla.org will be 0.9.2
Can someone lend a hand?
I'm running:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rande/images/iehelp.jpg
If I look at the "about" in my IE explorer, and it doesn't say anything about
mozilla, I'm ok...right? :D
Anyway...
I'm not sure if this is a mozalla or not, I downloaded the patch, but haven't installed it yet. It appears to be a non readable file. When I right click on it to see if there is an 'install now' option, there is none.
If I am running mozalla, how do I install the patch? I've never seen the "install" option anywhere. The patch I have won't open, I get the standard error telling me " this file is unreadable, would you like to search the web for the program that created it"?
Help Please :frusty: :D
let me be the first to say...

Does it say Mozilla? I take it if your compotent enough to take a screenhot of an application window, upload it, and post it then you must realize your talking out your ass. :)Quote:

Thanx for all your fk'n help...I hope someone will repay your kindness.
You folks better get life jackets for your pets the next time you take them for a walk.
Do you think I would intentionally try to look like an fk'n idiot, by asking stupid questions ?
I'm sorry for wasting your precious time. I'm in the process of learning....something, I guess you don't understand... I truly don't know the differences in browsers.
Actually I'm sorry, for those that feel the need to respond in such a manner.
btw...I believe it's spelled "competent" not compotent.
fugley time again:Quote:

you're not running Mozilla.........
goto http://mozilla.org/ and download and install it (it will take a lil time to get used to, but trust me, its better than IE in nearly every way)
the diffrence with the browsers is minimal, allthough Microsoft does try to block non-IE browsers to their sites (childish, but true)........
IE (Internet Explorer) is a microsoft product that comes with windows......... if you like virii, dialers, adware and security leaks, stay with it....
if you get a 3rd party browser, you will eliminate most treats because it (mostly) isnt made by one company, but by multiple people devoting their free time to it. because of this way of making a product, patches come out sooner for known security issues....
besides the fact that most virii and other annoying crap is writen for IE (as most people use it), so alot of that stuff wont work if your using a 3rd party browser
EDIT: read this on why you should switch
Right, you do not need the patch. It's only for firefox/ mozilla browsers.Quote:

Storm...Thank You for your understanding. I appreciate your passing on to me, the knowledge needed for the security of this computer (although some may think I don't deserve it).....
It's nice to see there are some people with enough confidence in themselves to answer a question, that may seem other wise totally absurd, with in depth honesty.
I will be changing my browser to another, but I guess I'm forced to keep the IE for updates from Microsoft.
To those still answering my posts with insults..... I'm glad I could offer some comic relief to your <add insult here> lives.
