When u installed it did it asked would u like to archive etc etc and did u click ok/yes? If so then u can un-install normally. If not...
Ok, silly question : why don't you like updater 5 ? Something wrong with it that I should know ?Quote:

Lol it said invalid key =\
try this:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
and it will ask if you want to install v4 and click yes...i think this will work, just try out and if it does post back here so if others want to revert back, they can. :)
version 4 works.. but its defaulted as V5.. AHH!!
try obtaining the infamous bluelist keygen (can't help you there, sorry) and changing your windows serial. That should work, right?
:lol:Quote:

Unfortunatly, all the kegyns and the keychangers are useless, now you will need a REAL product ID, so unless you have a legal copy or you try all the product IDs in the keygen untill 1 works (good luck), there is no solution
what microso#ft is doing is that allows the product IDs that are issued by Micros0ft itself, so if you did not buy a copy, you can't ...
Lol.. I guess the only solution is to format... -.-
Unless you have the CD to delete the current windows update files and restore the old ones. ;) ;)
When I will find a solution I will post it.
WAIT WAIT WAIT.
ther is one way to fix it.
I did this EXACT same thing u just did like 3 nights ago lol.
after a bit of googliing i found a site which showed a bunch of PID (product ids) which SP2 has black listed. It said which ones are safe to use, what keygen to use to produce a safe key, and how to change them etc.
I will PM you the one i changed too and windows update 5 now works and i have also installed SP2 beta build 2162 (which i must say is a huge improvement over RC1) without any problems at all.
yeah, like I said, try the bluelist keygen. It's the opposite of a blacklist for Microsoft. The keygen connects to microsoft's database and obtains a key that WILL work... or so I've heard. I've never really tried. Just search Kazaa for it.
@ROSSCO_2004
can u PM me the site too? I'd b grateful
@Hitchhiker427
I tried it, but it didn't work :( (got it of Shareaza)
I can tell you for a fact that it does not connect to anything....Quote:

it still fascinates me that people bitch so much about Microsft OS's long after they're released, but they're all excited to install alpha and beta versions of said software.
could you pm me the url addy for where it shows blacklisted pid's as well. thanks :)Quote:

The bluelist keygen only churns out serials with a product ID of '641' in the middle, and these are blocked.
So MS blocks:
Popular keys
Keys with 641 in the middle
I know this, because I installed this copy of XP on here with a FRESH key from the bluelist keygen, which is blocked by WUv5.
Does anyone have a working corp code, or a new keygen?
The only PIDs that are determined to work for sure (100%) are the ones for Win corp ed, because if m$ blocks these PIDs, then they are blocking hundreds of computers that have legal PIDs :D
Use google search for a good website that well help you change your PID.
I've solved it, and I GUARANTEE this method works 100%!!
1. Grab this file, open it up, then open 'MSKey4in1.exe'.
2. Select 'XP Pro Corp VLK' (or somethink like that, it has 'VLK' in), and tell it to search for product keys between:
640 - 500000
and
640 - 600000
3. Hit 'Generate' twice, and make a note of the SECOND key it spits out.
4. Open up regedit, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents
5. Edit the string 'OOBETimer', change the last two characters to '11', and hit OK.
6. Go to start, run and type in:
c:\windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
7. Select activate by phone, click next.
8. Click change product key.
9. Enter they key you just generated, click Update.
10. Click 'Remind Me Later' if you go back to the other screen.
11. Reboot.
12. Go to Windows Update v5, and enjoy!
This worked for me on 2 machines I've just tried (both were previously using a key from the Bluelist keygen). Let me know if you need any help.
I will not supply you with a serial.
Yeps, that was it was in the "google search" ;)
I even made a package consisted of keychanger + a working win corp key and it is in ED2K :P
I found that ieXbeta article earlier, but of course there was a few bits and pieces missing, so I decided to put together that 'step by step' guide :)Quote:

It's always much better to generate your own serial, and NEVER distribute it - you don't want it ciruclated and finding yourself blocked.

thanks for the key in the pm, i did some google lookups and my current pid is a valid one :P looks like i wont need to change it then
Hmm.. Tutv.. the link for sigdat doesn't work O.o
Try the eMule one - that worked for me :)
That means I have to download Emule right? lol.. Are you able to upload it to me?

Thanks for the guide :)
Like I already mentioned, M$ can't block these PIDs, because they will be blocking hundreds of computers, using LEGAL win corp. Ed. But it is still possible to make your own serial, just do not change the #s in the middle and change the numbers on the side for the PID.
Er.. can you show me an example of how this can be done?
