i doubt there will be much. do they use the same DVDs or are they the really small DVDs?
blue laser is a finer, more advanced type of laser that can read/write more data on a disc. i believe traditional CD/DVD lasers are "red." blue laser DVD holds more data.
HD DVD is high definition DVD Video. the original DVD Video standard has a picture resolution of 720x480 for NTSC, and whatever the resolution is for PAL. when you display it at its full resolution (480p) on an HDTV, it is "enhanced definition" but not "high definition." HD DVD will be designed to use the higher resolution modes on an HDTV (720p or 1080i).
blue laser and HD DVD are not the same thing, but they'll be used together 'cause the blue laser medium allows for the larger data capacity which will be necessary to achieve high definition. so far the only commonly available home video format that uses high definition is D-VHS. HD DVD is still only in its development stage, as far as i know.
remember from 5th grade science ROY G. BIV
Red has a longer wavelength than blue, so therefore more data can be stored in the same space.
i read somewhere that HD DVD's can store 23gb i think so i am not sure and where can i find more details to buy a Blue-laser Dvd Recorders, heard it released in japan!
yeh, i'm pretty sure blue laser recorders are available, but HD DVD will not hit the market for quite a while. HD DVD will be a type of blue laser DVD, just like DVD Video is a type of DVD and CD Audio is a type of CD.
23gb! :o That's more than half my hard drive. :o
BIV? wtf is that? Dont you mean BV? :rolleyes:Quote:

HD DVD does NOT!!! use a blur laser, DONT post bullsh!t that you dont know about. Blu Ray is the only laser that is blue. it can use 23GB, 25GB, and 27GB, also a dual layer 50GB disc. HD DVD uses a modified Red laser.Quote:

Atleast that all they taught us in 5th grade (8 yrs ago) Maybe thats just for us in the US though.

ROYGBV are the three primary colors with the three secondary colors in between.
R + Y = O
Y + B = G
B + R = V (aka Purple)
B + V = Indigo. it's a tertiary color so it really doesn't belong, but some people just throw the I in so it looks like a name: Roy G. Biv. prolly nothing at all to do with what country yer from... more likely just personal preference so it's easier to remember. but you're right, it is not technically correct.
Blu-ray, a comparitively new concept, employs a blue-violet laser, with its narrower wavelength of 405µm (as opposed to the 650µm of that of conventional DVD-V's red laser) – allowing for an absolute maximum of 50GB to be stored on BD media.
The pending HD-DVD standard, which remains yet to be verified, intends to implement a substantial extent of BD's specifications, however it remains dissimilar, in that: its numerical aperture is 0.65; it requires no protective housing; its dimensions prolong in being identical to that of DVD; it has a potential 30GB of storage capacity.
HD-DVD poses potential of being of success, taking into account the technology founding it.
