I think that was dropped a while back Cheese. Craig Moore who plays for Rangers has been put on tranfer list because he insists on playing for Australia in the Football. I think.
wat the hell are the olympics :smilie4:
I could be wrong but that sort of thing stopped years ago, I think the amateur definition has been altered to just not receiving any money to compete in the Olympics.Quote:

I'd be interested in the specifics though. Not quite sure how it works
Yeah, Alex Ferguson has had quite a strop because two of his players, Ronaldo and Heinz, are competeing and will be too knackered to play for the club that pays their wages when they return. I agree with him too because he's always right :PQuote:

Are`nt the boxers ameteurs though.??
Cheers guys. Looking around looks like they have relaxed that old rule, nevermind.
Yeah they are, also there are other weird rules like the football teams have to use players under 21 - with the exception of three squad members.Quote:

I suppose it is. Using that reasoning I could regain my place in the local under-14's soccer team under threat of legal action and become the all conquering hero my latent talent demands :01:

Maybe not as it clearly states boy under fourteen and as there is probably an option to join for older players.
But the olympics are for the nation's finest athletes, not for the finest athletes under 21. I don't get why they'd had that rule.
To be honest I didn't think pro footballers were allowed to take part

Hrm. I suppose my quest for glory weill have to be put on hold then.
I don't get that rule either SnnY, maybe it's because when soccer was introduced to the Olympics, about 12 years ago I think, the Olympic regulatory body knew that the main footballing countries wouldn't take it seriously anyway so decided to make a rule that would give some youngsters an opportunity to play for their countries that they would not normally get.
I wish - Christiano Ronaldo isn't playing today for Utd cos he's in the fecking Olympics :angry:Quote:

I think that the under 21 rule was introduced as a roundabout way to prevent it becoming a 'world cup' of professional footballers.
You mean like the USA Basketball Dream Team.Quote:

I thought that was hilarious. The best players from the only serious league in the world, playing against .... well people who weren't good enought to get into the NBA.
Quelle surprise when they won.
But it still sounds like discrimination somehow, and not in a good way.Quote:

It'd probably have been better to have been honest then and just tweaked the rules for allowing pros to just allowing three of them or something.

Come on the Chelski :01:
Those are the under 21 rules in all(Under 21) soccer leagues.
How many rules are there in "under 21" leagues boab. Does it go into double figures.Quote:
