It's a great idea in fact it should be compulsary at least once in a woman's life, why should it be left to the fella's all the time
This is the 21st Century
You're peers fought for equality... so use it.
Of course it's acceptable. I've asked a few guys out on dates. It's all gender stereotyping really. Most guys I know would be immensely flattered at being asked out instead of having to do the asking.
Not only do I think it is acceptable, I think it is preferable.
These days it's pretty much a two way street. Always has been too as far as I recall, even in School.
Yeah!!! what she said :flowers:Quote:

It's perfectly fine. sometimes, it alleviates pressure on men, cause of old societal norms dictating they do the asking.
well this sucks , everyone thinks its acceptable ?!?!?!
wheres the traditionalists ? i want a debate !
That's true.Quote:

Acceptable to me too, but for some reason I usually do all the asking
Well, I think men and women are equally afraid of rejection, cause it sucks. I've asked men out..never been a problem.

well , I understand that it can be awkward. For me, it wasn't. Then again, I was a teen in the mid to late super 70's. You know, back in the olden days.

lets just blame the brand new highly dodgey layout of the board :)
In school i was asked out by girls more often than i asked them out. When i turned 14 girls a lot of girls started noticing me when they had ignored me before.
It was probably because i had a growth spurt at that time :01:
@ Gembs, just ask if you want a date with me :D , but not now cos i've got to go out :)
See! Rejection already ! :(
it's alright in this day and age for a women to ask a man out on a date! ;)
and yes ive been ask out before :D
Yep have to agree all is fair in love and war, it's cool for a lady to ask a gent out for a stroll along the promenade, and maybe a ice cream cone. :)
Some ladies don't really outwardly ask but flirt so blatently it's pretty much the same, I have been fortunate to have been asked out by a young lady on a couple of occasions, and on at least one occasion she wasn't even part of my family :01:
If it had been left up to me to do the asking, I never would have dated because I was too shy to ask.
Not that I didn't wish I could get my nerve up.
I don't think it is fair that guys have to do all the asking, and think it is great that girls do now.
I have never asked a guy out on a date. Its not that I feel that its wrong, but I am too scared. Maybe thats why I spent almost 4 years without a boyfriend.
:( that's to bad sara ,but i remember a thread along time ago were u were jus picky or had high standards in a man ,which is not bad either !Quote:

still not entirely comfortable with being 'with someone' tho....
It is for girls to demonstrate interest, it for guys to ask them out.
Girls have always "asked" guys out by their body language and eye contact.
If you call a guy up and ask him out he will always say "yes" unless you are odious.
Why? He thinks he has the upper hand and will use you for sex.
She looks "good enough to fuck" is the reasoning they will use.
There is nothing wrong with asking a guy out, in fact, my female friend is married to a guy she asked out, but for the youngsters out there, this will end in a bad way for the woman.
A smile, eye contact, helping to prolong a conversation and un-necessary physical contact are all the clues a guy needs to ask you out.
Since you never actually committed an overt act, you can still maintain the upper hand.
A good trick to get his attention is to bump into him by "mistake". You can read his reaction to the situation. Even a shy guy will give you a look. Complete disinterest means exactly that.
I used this on a girl I was unsure about, and it worked big time. She was completely disinterested :(
What about women asking men to marry them ?
