At least Chaucer had a sense of humour.
I'm doing a degree in English and I don't have a clue of what I'm going to do with it when I finish.Quote:

English Literature is so broad in scope, that qualifications in it are also broad in scope when deciding on a career direction..... :)
Shakespeare had humour !Quote:

Damn drunkard couldn't even spell.
I loved Coleridge, he was a complete head trip.
"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", and "Kubla Khan" rocked.
Oh, to be back at school.......:(
I really don't get , reading books, it bores the hell outta me, prolly cos I can't read very quickly :)
Jonno
Awwwww Jonno man, dont admit that.
Everyone should read a few books a year.
Admittedly, I haven't read a new one for ages.
But at the mo, I am on;
Trainspotting - Irvine Welsh (chuffing brilliant, the 4th time round!)
TheTao Of Pooh - Benjamin Wolf (simple Taoism for simple people.) ;)
and
The Poisoned Embrace - Lawrence Osborne (Brief History of Sexual Pessimism)
Last book I read was Red Dwarf - Better Than Life :)
12 years ago
Since then I've only read instructional books like for bikes and guitars etc :)
Jonno
Gotta find you a copy of Tao Of Pooh. ;)
I swear you would love it.
I generally read a Chapter every so often, to calm me down.
It changes your perspective of life, just go with the flow.
(and it even has a few pictures in there. :D )
Me reading a book?
Did they make the movie of it? :)
Jonno
shakespeare can be funny, you just need to use your imagination like we did with "a midsummer nights dream" by acting as though the characters were gay. our teacher thought it was funny, but some people thought i fitted the role too well...
:D
I hope there wasn't a film made.
That would be wrong.
Again, pah to Shakespeare.
Wasn't Midsummers Night Dream a piss take for the King?
I vaguely remember something about him being forced to write a play.
I have no idea whatsoever what you just said but........cool :D
Jonno
Cool as penguin piss. :D
Im nipping out.......in my Mini. :01:
I would think penguin piss is quite warm actually
Jonno
I guess I'm the only pro-Shakespeare gal here then
And exo body :P
Geek. :DQuote:

Reading is a pleasant way to spend an hour or two. Recently, I found Bill Bryson's "History of nearly everything" rather good.
Gemby, the ability to understand English and use it fluently is essential for many jobs. One only has to look at the number of signs in shops and the erratic use of apostrophes to understand why more people should be studying the subject not less.
Not to mention Newsreaders and newspaper reporters.:)Quote:

Honestly, what qualities does he have, that other's don't?
Just because he could write and read, doesn't mean he should have worldwide recognition when others were forgotten.
The best thing he did, was build a theater.
It is true that he has been used as a form of subtle torture on schoolkids for generations. But hey, the teachers have got to have some fun too. :shifty:Quote:

He bores the pants off me. :P
Don't know why I am complaing, I haven't been a student for years.
In fact, I've changed my mind, new law....
Make all sprogs read his entire works.
Revenge on the lil buggers. :D
