Re: Ethernet Controller...
Have you trie to remove it and let it reinstall?
Right click >Ethernet Controller
Choose> remove/uninstall
After doing so highlight >David, right click and choose scan for hardware changes (something like that)...........see what happens (if drivers are not already available, make sure to have them on stand by).
If it's the crossover cable, remove that and see what the reaction is.................

Re: Ethernet Controller...
Okay I was browsing for that type of issue and ran across this. It's another forum but take a look at the last entry, referencing removing ethernet card:

Maybe that will stir up some use

try booting to safe mode then remove it.
What motherboard is it? i ask so we can find you the best driver for the onboard network card, as this is what is needed to get it to work.

I have an Intel D845EBT.
Re: Ethernet Controller...
I can't find anything on that intel website. Did the motherboard come with a driver cd? try installing the ethernet drivers from that if it did.
And what about safe mode...were you able to remove it?

Re: Ethernet Controller...
Ok now I know how to install it but the files did not include e100b325.sys and when it is installing it stops and asks for this file. Does anyone know where I can get this file from?

Re: Ethernet Controller...
You may have to check in >system32/drivers or the Windows XP drivers.cab file should include a driver file E100b325.sys for an intel nic.

I don't see it in system32/drivers. Where is Windows XP drivers.cab?
Re: Ethernet Controller...
XP cd, do you have?
Okay departing from work, I'll get back on after getting home and help out more if you haven't already found the solution.

Ok, I got the file of the Windows XP CD then I had to find like 5 more files it needed so I had to find those on the internet. I had then finished the driver installation and I rebooted. I checked the device in Device Manager and now I get another error:

Re: Ethernet Controller...
edit: you posted as i posted lol.
i think you're using either the wrong driver or it's not installing properly.
Try going to windowsupdate.com and see if it lists a driver update.
I'll look a bit harder for a driver for you.
Re: Ethernet Controller...
I know I sound like a broken record , But Unknown Device Driver always works for me.
http://www.files32.com/info13201.htm
