That 'homer' phrase is beginning to work it's way into usage over here too. Last season a footie manager - can't remember which one - said on the news that Mike Riley (a referee) is a homer.

I laughed for ages until the missus pointed out that he probably meant that he favoured the home team rather than being good with colours.
