I'm completly gutted.
John was a legend, most versatile D.J of our time.
Love his "dottiness" and soft spoken voice.
I shall definatly be leaving a message in his tribute pages.
God bless.
The man was a legend and will be sorely missed by all who ever had the privilege of hearing his radio show or seeing him DJ live.
To say this is a big loss to British Music is a massive understatement!!!!
R.I.P John
I think it would be more appropriate to say a big loss to the music world as a whole. You have to remember, he did not start his radio career in the UK and thanks to web radio and various CD releases, he stretched far beyond the UK.Quote:

R.I.P John Peel
Actually, I was reaffirming what you said. No need to be childish and call people an idiot.
A realy sad day in music history. John Peel was simply irreplaceable.
My thoughts & prayers are with his family.
I heard about this on the radio, died of a heart attack.
He was with radio one from the beginning in 1967.
He'll be missed.
Yes, the last of the original Radio1 DJs not farmed out.Quote:

RIP JP.
Radio 1 will be a worse place without him. The man was a true legend and has introduced me to so many bands in the short time I've listened to him, let alone those who knew him from the start.
So out of nowhere too, did anyone know he had heart trouble?
They were saying today about all the work he has done, and they listed all the bands that he played first, and some of them are some of the legends of music. He played punk rock, hip hop and reggae before they became mainstreem music. A truely brilliant DJ.
He was a famous diabetic. Who knows.Quote:

I only found out an hour ago....(hence my thread in the lounge  )
Gutted isn't the word...my teenage kicks were somewhat guided by him....erm...and Tommy Vance... :)
Im gutted. The man was an absolute legend and some of the sets he played where either pure genius or absolute madness.
