Shout box

I would like to call for a poll for a 'Shout Box' at the top of the lounge. What do other members think? Something similar to Bigboab's Chat Bar only a lot better.:)

It is a place at the top of the 'Lounge' where you can 'talk' to anyone who is online without posting in a thread. It is mostly one line comments and replies. Helps members who come online and dont wish to post in a thread and cant be bothered with the hassle of PM's when they just want to say hello to someone.:)

Pretty much my first thought.

Personally I think a Shout Box is a bad idea, they are too messy. Our friends, the moderators, probably wouldn't appreciate the extra work either.

Have a poll, see what people think and then just wait and see if admin can do anything. :unsure:

Moderating a shoutbox is actually easier than moderating ordinary posts. But I see your point and Dans. Why change a habit of a lifetime and listen to members.:)

I think it works okay on Rikk's forum because members there get on for the most part. Here, so I've heard, there is friction between some members and a larger base of members to manage.

I see what you mean. The Chat Bar was hitting about a hundred post a day and only half the lounge was using it. But if the Shout box was placed in the Lounge and with the small amount of members we have now, it might work.

A shoutbox is basically a message board on a smaller scale. There's not really any point of implementing one on an existing message board imo.
