"the effect of IT on society"
i been reading all of urs posts in "Lounge", i gota say that u all have something interesting to say.... but none of u started a "THINKER THREAR", where people think about something,,,, i am being brave enough to start a thread which is related to social and general side.......
"The effect of IT on Society"
How would u say that the society have changed with the effects of computers, in which way would u describe the effect of IT on society. What r the negative sides of the "I.T".
just to start the thread i would say that I.T's impact is far deeper then it seems, people's lives have changed completely, they have new ways to make friends i.e. chartrooms, emails, msn/yahoo messengers.
Contribute to this thread, u may think that its a boring and useless thread, but its not it will be very interesting and addictive topic.......
i couldn’t wait to hear what u all have to say ......

Re: "the effect of IT on society"
Honest reply... I think that computers have both positively and negatively impacted society.
On the positive side, we get to hear perspectives of people other than those in our immediate vicinity. We have the opportunity to develop a more global view of the world, and form relationships with people that we would never have had the chance to meet otherwise. As well, the wealth of information that is open to us is enormous.
On the negative side, are the dangers to kids. Chat rooms, internet porn, our kids are being exposed to a lot of things that our parents (at least my generation) didn't have to worry about. Add to that, that the population is becoming largely less active, kids play too many computer games, watch too much tv and spend less time outside than they did. It's another excuse to sit idly.

Re: "the effect of IT on society"
I think a great topic for discussion would be on how Alexander Pope's critque of society involves an engagement with it whilst Gray's a retreat from it.
Please use no more than 2000 words though.

Re: "the effect of IT on society"
I think it's possibly Stephen King's best book, mind I formed that opinion when I was about fourteen. Looking back, his books are rubbish.
I'm not sure how it impacted on society at large but it gave me a slight phobia of clowns, I'm over that now :ermm:
