Re: Safest way to fileshare?
erm, use a firewall. Use Protowall and dont download new movies (like right when it comes into theaters, dont download the cams right away and when the dvd comes, dont download the rips right away.) cause the new ones are the most monitored...
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
Safest way to download files? Dont.
Safest way to share files with people you know? FTP.
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
@RcD,
question,
who is your ISP that suspended you and for how long?
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
Whats the name of that one anonymous proxy server service that was spamming us a while ago? Anon-X or something? Try them if you need a proxy server. Or you can try a free one. Prefarably the anonymous proxy servers.
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
Seriously. Everyone I know or have communications with and has been caught sharing files on P2P has been using TORRENTS.
This is why I stay away from them.
Too many users getting caught for my liking.

well ill add a contradiction to that rule: got an email from ISP about using Gnutella network (Emule)
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
Newsgroups are the safest :01:
If you subscribe to a payserver though.
They take out all identifiable information (x-headers) when you post to newsgroups and nobody can see what you download.
I pay $10 per month for 10gigs,with a retention of more than a month.
And I've got 30 gigs in my gigbank :01:
Things you need to make the most out of your Usenet experience :D :
- A subscription to a newsserver with great retention.(I prefer Easynews ,it's cheap, great retention and webbased.)
- Newsreader (Grabit [free] | NewsLeecher [Kicks Ass! :01: ]
- A premium account at newzBin (only 50cents per week and...NZB files  )
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
Peerguardian is a handy tool too.
So far I have had no problems and I have been using various different apps and dl ahem...whatever I feel like ;)
Re: Safest way to fileshare?

My ISP is adelphia. I was suspended until I got the letter and called them. Took about a week.
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
The thing is, our PC has a IP number what is used when the files are transferred.
Its a trick to make that un-visible.
I dunno if there really is working Proxys out there, or other Spoofing methods,
but even if there was, I guess they would slow down the line somewhat.
Key thing imo is to use less popular networks. Or use places that is more controlled like torrentbits.
None of those are 100% *AA-proof thought.
And Talismans.
And other Mojos.
And lets not forget the Voodoo.
Its about luck too, you could do all you could and get unlucky.
The changes are pretty dim thought. Bit bigger in states i guess,
but still small chances to get caught.
If you get the feared letter (lol) just change the way you get your media.
And it could help to try to block the RIIA/MPAA etc IPs with Protowall
or something similar.
But im not wearing the tin foil hat just yet.
:cool2:
Re: Safest way to fileshare?
used PeerGaurdian with a modded block list
Protowall is the one i use now
i made a MASSIVE blocklist using Block list manager (for p2p stuff)
and a AntiSpyWare list (just for browsing)
thats what i like about protowall
u can change the block list when u want
but with PG u have to open the directory and rename files

Not sure but I heard that you can't register at torrentbits anymore which mean that it is harder for the RIIA/MPAA to find out since they need to register to check the torrents. :D So Yeah, I suggest that torrenbit is a medium safe BT site.
