Mine says 10.0Mbps.Eny way i can make it faster?Dont know why but it seems like an internet speed blocker of some kind.eny help?
1 mbps? I think any dial-up user (including me) would love to go that fast.
what download speeds should i be getting?
just because your nic card is 10/100 doesn't mean your getting that speed.
try a speed test at http://www.dslreports.com/stest
around 100kb/s.
http://img122.exs.cx/img122/3616/testspped.jpg
if my speeds are so good, why am i only getting 100-150 kbps?
100kb/s is around exactly what you should be getting.
but you're not. Your download speed is almost half what you should have.
theres something with ur connection..
you should be getting around 2.5Mbps down and around 600-700kbs upload....
call sympatico up...
check ur rwin and stuff...
EDIT: im talking from experience...(i used to be a bell customer....)
the 1mbps doesnt mean anything, i have 3mb download speed and it still says 1mpbs ...my friend has 256k dsl and it says 1mbps. what are the speeds of your plan?
would a router affect this?
no other computers where on when i did this test though
If it's wireless, yes. If it's wired; I don't think so. My speeds are just as fast as they were before I got a router and I am currently running 2-3 PCs online at a time; but it may be different to you.Quote:

go to bandwidth place and test...its based on where you live rather than a fix location
8 b's in one B, remember. in theory 1mbps will get about 128 kBps but you'll get about 110. and hi jaig, what are you talking about?
Glad you pointed that out. Nearly just posted the exact same thing.Quote:

I suggest you stop looking at your Local Area Connection too, it's your NIC card capable speeds - listen to muchspl2 on that one.
Run a proper speed test that shows your speed in KB /Sec not kbps.
I also suggest ringing your ISP and telling them to charge you a little bit more because you wouldn't know otherwise ;)
...or multiply KB/s by 8 to get Kb/s.Quote:

Welcome bud :)

did you even read the thread? or are you joking?
Totally Ignorant..... :dry:Quote:

hahaha. u guys are so sensitive. I know what it means - I was just playing. hehehe. next time I'll throw a ";)" in there. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hmmm, another one with very strange upload rates.
I would be tempted to ignore reports from that site, they do not appear to be accurate.
Good job you knew that one too.

Test here
I always Connect at 22.0 Mbps and my download speed is like 160Kbs sometimes i get like 500Kbs but it goes to 160Kbs after like 5 secs
I connect to my modem at 100Mbps... and the other computers in the house; my connection to the internet, though, is only 768kbps, and I'd be willing to bet that your connection is similarly restricted.Quote:

if it goes to 160kb that means ur connect @ 1.5-1.7mbps.... :frusty: not 22mbps!Quote:

EDIT: and http://www.dslreports.com/stest doeant really tell u ur real d/l speed b/c when i do the test it says my d/l spped is like 1.5Mbps and i only get 160Kbps max
You just contradicted yourself. 1500 bits divided by 8 = around 185 bytes.Quote:

Look, if people tell you things in here and you keep bleating on about the same thing as if you haven't read a fucking word, this is exactly what is going to happen.Quote:

Also: there are 1024 Kb in a Mb and 1024 KB in a MB,
That said, maybe you can work out that 160KB/sec (aka KBps) is roughly the same as 1.5Mb/sec (aka Mbps).
If you're still unsure about your connection speed, go back and check out exactly what speeds are being quoted.
you think a simply thread like this wouldnt get over 4 pages...seriously, if you want to get your speed CALL YOUR DAMN ISP. you cant rely on dslreports 100% because you gotta take other stuff in mind. 1. how heavy the traffic is going to their server , 2. where is the location of the server you took the test from.
my speeds varies from dslreports all the time, going from 1.6mbps to 3mbps.
if you are getting the dl rate that you are paying for, or 90% of it, than everything is correct
another post that deserves to be on bash.org     :lol:Quote:
