can always change the color in display settings, but to change overall themes I'd get stylexp. There's also windowblinds, but I've never used it.
stylexp or the UXtheme.dll patch are the ebst ways.
i find that windowsblinds uses too much ram.

There are kick ass themes for windows xp at deviantART. You will need a hacked uxtheme.dll to use the themes. Try Royal Inspirat. It's my desktop theme right now.
