Pronunciation Of The Word "kazaa"

I know this is probably a question that may be unnecessary and probably won't affect anything, but for the sake of it, here we go...
Is there a "proper" pronunciation of the word "Kazaa"??? (Maybe FastTrack or Sharman had read it out before.) Just wanted to know, as I have heard heaps of people pronounce it in different ways, some pronoucing Kazaa, as if it rhymed with "bizarre", some pronounce Kazaa as if it rhymed with how most people would pronounce words such as Dazza (nick for Darren), Bazza (nick for Barry), Tazza (Tasmania) and etc., and some pronounce Kazaa like "Car Zar"... I'm sure there's millions of other pronunciations, so please reply them here if anyone is bothered... ;) :P :D :lol: B) :rolleyes: :)

first off, Why is this in the development section?

2ndly, Are you saying the kaaa is supposed to be said longer then the zaaa?

Correct: Kah-Zaaaah ; spelled: Kazaa

Wrong:Kaaaah-Zah ; spelled: Kaaza

Emphasis on 'zaa'.

Trouble is that in English the 'a' is pronounced differently as in Dutch.

Say 'ah' (dentist).

Although I have heard it said wrong a many time. Everything from ka-za to KAY-zee. :lol: :lol:

This reminds me of the preivew of the new movie with Mike Myers, where he says you put the wrong em"phas"is on the wrong sy"labbel". Pretty funny stuff from the looks of the preview.

I think this is the difference between pronouncing it in the American and English way?
Let's stick to the Dutch version; put some potatoes in your throat and try to pronounce it again: Kaaa - Sjaaa. :D

Confusing, no? You Dutch have a much more sensible language...

Here's one to think about:

pronounce 'laughter'
then add an 's' to the start of the word and think about the new pronunciation.
Wierd, no?

Oh, and a lot of my friends seem to think it's KaZaA, but it is KaZaA.

å is similar to the 'a' sound in Hall, tall, Ball

Kazaa doesn't mean anything in Dutch, so it's roots are most likely in Sweden.

@ Cathras, are you from Sweden? What does Ka-Så mean?

I'm from Norway.
And in the either of the "Formal" Languages (2) It means nothing really.
But If you take it by how some northern dialects speaks it could mean: So what
So what= Hva så, in norwegian, but northern and some other parts say Ka instead of Hva
But I really don't think it's originating from that.. First it's one word, as I pronounce it, Kaså.
Others I mostly have heard Kassà. Z isn't a often used letter in norwegian, and mostly pronounced with s or ss, dependant on what follows and dialect.
