Stop looking for acceptance from internet folks unless you plan to meet face to face and even then don't kiss their ass.
Stop touting your post count. You get nothing for it. When there is a dollar amount attached to it then spout "Yayyyyy ". Your posts might have been shit anyway.
Step away from the computer for a week and try improving yourself.
Stop discussing the semantics of "Get a life"
Stop arguing with 14 year-olds in Gameworld? :unsure:Quote:

True..
but most of us are real people, with real feelings and if you're really mean, it still really hurts. Is that what you really want?
:P
I do. It's in my profile.Quote:

What I mean is Busyman...
That for some people the net is a way to express themselves like they are not able to in real life. I suspect there are more people like me around here and it's sometimes not nice to get a nasty reply to something you've been struggling to say for months...
Surely, just being nice and not being snipey is not much to ask? :)
Don't get it twisted.Quote:

This forum thang has got me finishing my screenplays while I make music. Very weird. It gives me a good laugh most of time. Most folk need to lighten up
I guess I don't look at it as a integral part of life and I personally don't think anyone should. If you are feeling bad about something said on this forum after getting off the computer, reevvvvaallluu8 yourself.
There is so much out in the world that to put so much stock in this forum box does a diservice to one's self.

I understand where you are coming from Skweeky1. People always say it's not real life but I don't think that is an excuse to be nasty to people. I'll be nice to you :)
As I said busyman... for some people this is very real and it hurts, maybe even more so than in real life, when someone is nasty to them. :)
And I'll be nice to you ginguar
Personally, I have never had anyone be as nasty to me in real life as they are on the internet. I find it very weird that people that you hardly know tell you that they hope you die of cancer etc. It's so easy to be horrible to people because you can hide behind the net. A large amount of the people who are truely nasty on the net are gutless in real life (and in a sense gutless on the net). I have a life (a very boring one but I like it) I find the net is mostly a great place where I have met many wonderful people.
Somewhat my point.Quote:

I get nasty with some when they are nasty to me......like clockwork. For some like
1234
leftism
blackerdays
UKResident
...they are dead too me as far as the net is concerned. They have nothing useful to offer me, not even a thoughtful insult, so they are a CWOT.
lynx was another that almost ranked red on my personal fuck-you-o-meter but that's pretty old and he doesn't really talk to me and I don't talk to him so there's no reason to blackball.
btw I don't shit like "I hope you die from cancer", and never have...unless I really meant it, in which case I wouldn't apologize for it.
@Fugs - if this forum shut down today and wouldn't like it at all but I also wouldn't cry about it either. There are some that will and that's a shame.
When you get insulted here it's purely intellectual, irl there are other factors like chemistry and aestetics, so when someone insults you on here you might feel that it's more intense, because they are really insulting who you are, inside.Quote:

But I think the people that handle insults best on here are those who have developed a superiority complex/those who are deeply egocentric. The key to being invulnerable online is thus simply a matter of looking down on everybody else.
Another thing to consider is who it is that is insulting you, It'd hurt a whole lot more if someone I respected insulted me, instead of the occasional run of the mill AOL fourteen-year-old or madman that most often sends me death-threats and similar, the only emotion they evoke in me is a mild sense of mirth.
I have to disagree with you there bud.Quote:

Invulnerable online for me means that a member can't affect my life by insulting me.
(you are trying to do that thing again, it doesn't work)
FFS, I wasn't trying to get at you, and I'm not trying anything.
I know you care what people say on here, otherwise you wouldn't be so damned paranoid.
I don't think I could hurt anyone on here if he was egocentric in such a way that he believed that he was the only one that mattered. I think I might be closer to being so than you, if I'm to be totally honest, even tho' I don't like it when that aspect of myself rears its ugly head.
But I guess that there are different ways of being egocentric.

So, you're not insulted by on-line comments, but you feel the need to argue.
You don't feel that you have to be here, but you are are more often than not.
You have a list of people you don't like, but have said you don't know any of us.
I personally like quite a few people in here, and if one of them said something insulting, then yes I would be hurt. If it was eejit just name calling and fishing for an arguement, it wouldn't doesn't bother me in the slightest.
The forum is not essential in most peoples lifes, it's just another way of communicating with other like minded people and stealing music. I'm sure if the forum was closed tomorrow, I could track down the people I enjoy talking to, and on the plus side it would rid me of all the negative threads I feel compelled to read.
 What exactly do you want from me?Quote:

Again, I don't think you suffer under the assumption that the rest of us don't matter. I think that you care a bit more than you'd like to admit, but that's cool, it just shows that you are human like the rest of us.
I have a need to argue? Explain. I don't need pussy. I just want it reeeaaally bad. :w00t:Quote:

Again, as far as being hurt on here...it's the fucking internet. I have had too much real life tragedy to stock this forum as a crush to my psyche.
I recognize an insult or when someone is trying to go at me and treat it accordingly. Maybe I think it's fun.
Why else do you think he keeps coming back. :whistlingQuote:

I enjoy this board - apart from the occassional dip into the Yahoo message boards this is the only one I visit. It is entertainment and also a pleasure because real communication does take place. It is also remarkably troll free - unlike the Yahoo boards which are trollers refuges.
:D Theres always something to gain from these people, even if it's the knowledge of staying out of their threads. :whistlingQuote:

A lot of us have had real life tragedies, but find a few helpful words
from people not directly involved in the problem help so much.

Ya gotta a lot to learn about people. ;) Again the internet ain't real life...sometimes folks true nature comes out even in word format.

Of course you can't judge people through the mere words they type, as you can't trust every word that exits a mouth, but you can still bond just the same.
I, as you know was totally gutted when a certain northern monkey left the net, but I think its fantastic I can still trust him enough with certain things and keep in touch. Life is all about chances, but being realistic and slightly cautious of everything. For instance, I wouldn't give you my phone number, but someone I have gained to trust though long nights sitting up and blethering on msn would be fine.
I never knew my Aunt would stab my Uncle, but you live and learn. :whistling
