You're saying you can tell from your postings but think of it this way. I google if I don't know how to spell a word, you don't bother. That's all I can tell.
I reckon that's how it is in school too - maybe you just need a good kick up the arse. Btw, not trying to be patronising, even if it does come off that way :ermm:
No.You're comeing off like a school counselor.I get this speech a lot.I know what im capable of.
in my school if u take vocational courses they pass for just being there :naughty: :01:Quote:

Actually Zigs, apart from your 'stache, I think you have plenty of potential. I was like you at one time, very able but completely disinterested.Quote:

If you don't have this back-up, you need to get off your ass and kick things up a notch.
Money buys more than happiness, it buys security.
I want to be absolutely clear, sometimes we set our own limitations. I have a job now that I thought, from my upbringing, that I was too stupid to have. I not only achieved this job, but I kick ass.
I found that my ill conceived ideas about myself and my potential was the single greatest limiting factor in my success.

My Mother remarried into a rather successful family which was far removed from her upbringing. In order to protect me, she constantly told me not to attempt to be what our new family was and be happy with being me.
As a young child, I accepted this as fact and never attempted to intrude upon the world of the blessed.
Were it not for a childhood bestfriend, who did, in fact, travel the road of success, I never would have considered it.
When I did, I totally kicked ass and took names.
Sometimes parents collar you to protect you from feelings of failure, but when you shirk these things off, you become what you can be.
My mother is completely in awe of what I have become, as has my adopted Father. This really makes me feel good.
Fear of failure is no excuse to not trying.
This is not a story to motivate people, but my actual life. :01:

Maths isn't that bad, i studied it and passed....
shame i dont remember much though.....
id say school on the whole isn't so bad...
1. its a place to meet your friends everyday (if u go)
2. there are loser teachers there that you can make fun of and put them down...
3. its a great place to hear where and when the next big occasion is (party, beer bash, ect.)
Yogi on the bandwagon; Indeed great post, Hobbes.
I'd like to add my piece:
Some youngsters, however smart they are, just can't manage school/study because of
various reasons.
In my case, i was too fucked up by my situation at home to come to any serious
result at school.
In referance to Hobbes, what i most missed was a firm, but warm, kick in the
ass.
Apart from the fact i could be a true pain in the ass.........
After i left my home at 14 to live with a (temporarily) fosterfamily, my
grades went up to straight A's!!!!
Pity i could only live there for 8 months.
The family i moved to after that were great, sweet people.
Their ways of raising kids was not what i "needed" at that time , though.....
A lot of self-discipine was not exactly my strongpoint at that age.
Hence my grades dropped dramatically and after flunking twice, i decided
to drop school and go to work.(i was seventeen by then)
After some really crappy jobs i decided to become a nurse, as i could work
(money!!!)and study at the same time.
(another "small" benefit: mucho sweet girls around!!! :w00t: )
After an operation on my back, i switched to psychiatric nurse(orderly) and
succesfully went to parttime college(for psychiatry) and got my degree. :01:
After 18 years of taking care of people, my "caring" candle went out and
i changed to music/soundengineering.......(wich has been my hobby since
highschool).
With selfstudy i worked myself up to one of the specialists in computermusic
in my country and opened a store 7 years ago....
It lasted 4 sweet years with promising sales, till the economy went down and
sales dropped dramatically after the Euro was introduced.
I was lucky enough i could decide to close my shop without any debts.
And lucky enough to have a girlfriend(the light of my life!!! ) who didn't
mind having a housekeeper as her mate.
I still have some clients with studios i work for and though i only get to keep
10-20% of my earnings(rest is deducted from my benefits), it's nice to stay
in the bizz.
Aside from that i'm developing a therapy for stressed horses and their owners,
for wich i study with the help of Fre.( she studies Pat Parelli , natural horsemanship, i call my "therapy" sensitive horsemanship)
With some friends we are working on a plan to open a "HealthFarm" for
horses.
I see a lot of people with a good education, who can't get a job anyhow.
I also see some very rich people who never finished highschool.
If you are in the capacity to study, please do.
If you are not, try to find a direction you want to go, workwise.
Imho joy in your work should allways prevail over earnings.
And remember you are never to old to study!!!
Yogi
