MSN Messenger 7 Final Due Tomorrow

Tomorrow, the 7th April will mark the 7th version in a long history of MSN Messenger. MSN Messenger originally debuted in July 1999 and Microsoft claims that over 100 million unique users log on to the MSN Messenger service each month.

With the release of version 7 comes new features such as animated Winks (derived from 3 Degrees, a Nudge feature to wake your contacts up and the ability to show your contacts what music you're currently playing.

MSN Messenger has been in Beta testing since late September of 2004. 7 months on the client has gone through some great changes and MSN is finally happy with the result.

Microsoft were unavailable for comment at the time of writing but we're awaiting an official statement regarding the Messenger release.

oooo the betas are good wonder what "final" changes they have for the final version of 7, would be suprised if it was delayed

for the love of god microsoft stay with 6.4. the 7.0 release is going to piss me off so much im gonna have to revert to gaim or trillian to stop all the new very annoying features they have implemented.

Was using gaim, but the lack of a working "send files" options was bugging me.

how is it on RAM use?

cause msn6 is allready pissing me off with 7-12 MiB of ram

i still have the beta (waiting for the latest "mess patch" before i switch) and it uses over 20mb of ram. ;)
Big resource hog, the new features are all pointless imo, and it's full of ads.
I hate msn7 except for teh looks of the contact window. :rolleyes:

I can't receive some files. All I get is this message "This file has been blocked because it is potentially unsafe".
Yet I've allowed file transfer and set up my av to scan each file after dling it.

And even weirder, photo files can be transfered.

the msn 6 series is way better. i use msn for talking, not for sending winks and shit.

yeah, I wish they hadn't added all that crap.
surely they could see this coming.
with so many beta-testers, did no one tell them that nudge & wink suck?

i don't care about animated DP's, cause those are annoying.
I would've liked to see them do a thing like AIM, where you can insert images directly into the conversation, rather than having to send a file.

I do like that they fixed the size of your own display picture, though.
That's the only reason I ever got the beta in the first place.
I'd go back to 6 if it wasn't for that :angry:

Ok, me and a few friend are trying it, but we don't exactly know how to make the Music function work...
What I mean is that I just dont see what he's playing and veceversa.
