Do you leave your computer on 24/7?
Too much work to turn it off. Plus I need to leave downloads on overnight to seed.
I turn it off at night cause my dad gets mad if i leave it on, plus it heats my room too much so it's ahrd to sleep.
Leaving it on to download gta:sa tonight tho. :01:
Nope. Can't sleep cause of the humming of the fans.
At Uni i left it on to drown out the noise from outside and to download overnight. Also i download from IRC a lot and a send slot usually opens during the night
About 23/7 till Hurricane Season, which is now..
Don't you have surge protectors where you live? :ph34r:Quote:

It's on 24/7, unless I'm installing hardware :)

its supposed to be good to leave ur PC on as opposed to turning it on and off
because the metal in the circuits expand in the heat and retracts when it cools
constant expanding and retracting wears the components
any way
no i dont leave mine on :P
The only time I turn my P.C off is for a rebbot maybe once a week or so, or if Im having problems with it.
Mostly I just refresh explorer.exe. Plus my comp becomes alive at night as it defrags and scans for nasties and what not, so yes I leave mine on for way more that 24 hours.

I'm so 1337
i leave it on too much. i think my cpu's gonna overheat, need more fans and thermo paste
Fuck me, I'm paying £15 a week for our electricity already.
No thanks, but I bet someone on the forum will take you up on the offer - you should make the extra cash required to keep the PC online overnight in no time at all :naughty:Quote:

yes. it's on all the time. only gets rebooted after software installs.
No, I worry about the paraffin (kerosene) running out and the system crashing - thinking of upgrading to mains gas though.

Last time i turned it off was to install my new DVD ReWriter drive, before that uptime was 2 months +.
I do ! How does it affect my PC life ?
mine is on for last 27 days, non-stop!
downloaded more then 350 gigs in that period.... :)
Mine only goes down for a couple mins a week to reboot.
:01: yes, 24/7 i all ways end up restarting it every week tho cos i get problems with windows, like when a game crashes the screens realy bright so i gotta restart it, or like now the 'my computer' link in my start menu doesnt work (no idea y) ill restart it when i can be arst.
does anyone have linkage to a very precise calculator for calculating on how much your machine runs up on the electricity bill?
I dont leave mine 24/7. I turn it off when i go to school, because if my parents see it on they get pissed. I leave it on almost every night to mainly upload/seed stuff.
all da time except for reboots b/c of installations, problems or whatever. i turn it off when i'm going to be away from my house for 2+ days, but other than that, always.
once i had to travel for 15 days, didn't want to shut down PC, so made a huge fkin list of stuff that i would like to download and let the PC do the rest.Quote:
