It is a pity that the Nazi empire changed the meaning or the Swastika. For over 3000 years it was a symbol of life and good luck.
To the person in the picture it may be a Hindu religious symbol
What does it mean now?Quote:

Not unless it's Nazi both ways. :(
It has become a symbol of hate and murder because of the Nazis, which is why it has become almost the most offensive symbol everQuote:

But since the Nazis use of the swastika, some people are trying to differentiate the two meanings of the swastika by varying its direction - trying to make the clockwise, Nazi version of the swastika mean hate and death while the counter-clockwise version would hold the ancient meaning of the symbol, life and good-luck.
none the less it is...um 33's design (aka "stop sign" design) and hindu chill designers have better taste. That tshirt can relate to no other thing than the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (aka nazi) - either the guy had no clue or he is so into the zen of " The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix."
anyway - 2005 and racism still rocks the world
fantastic
I disagree.Quote:

It does not matter which way it is facing. It is not a Nazi symbol. It is just a symbol the Nazis used.:) Both symbols were present before the Nazis.:)Quote:

White Men! White women! The swastika is calling you. The Jew is using the black as muscle against you. And you are left there helpless. Well, what are you going to do about it, whitey? Just sit there? Of course not. You, are going to join with us. The members of the American Socialist White peoples Party. An organisation of decent, law abiding white folk. Just like you.
Pendantry is boring.Quote:

It doesn't matter much though.
Cool then from what I gather a swastika....
1. Turned in any direction with right angles facing any direction is still a swastika but.....
2. The Nazi use of it is specifically turned shaping a diamond versus a square and right angles face clockwise and.....
3. Any other way it's used should not be construed as a Nazi symbol but....
4. Most people don't know about number 2 so are offended anyway.
Over the millenia it has been used at differing anglesQuote:

i pushed the topic in here http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.ph...pic=336638&hl=
why does everyone miss the point when it comes to the swastika?
i understand you. you aren't saying microsoft are nazis, you're just wondering if the stigma of power attached to the letter X was subconsciously around upto 100 years ago

it's bizzare that i struggle to see the X. anyone else?
very nice - reverse the rolls
I know of a bloke from turkey who was/possibly still is a neo-nazi.Quote:

Weird bloke.
@vid: I was just saying, 'cos I think the distinction should and can be made very clearly even on here. I was thinking of that valentino-bloke when I posted it. Wasn't trying to criticize you, this time.
If you post a swastika, with the points in the approvable direction, and without the background colours the nazis used, then I think it should be cool.
If people can't get used to that, then they are being a bit unfair. 'cos we all know the difference between a cross turned upside down, and regular one, and one on fire for that matter. And we wouldn't complain about the regular kind, I'm thinking.
