I have the logitech pro4000...the software that comes with it sucks tho..i hate it..leaves a LOT of shit running when u exit too so you have to cntrl alt delete out all the shit..and its always lagging..ive had it on 3 computers and always lags..

what ever brand you choose, make sure it has a CCD type sensor (like used in video cameras).
cheaper webcams(under $75 or so) use what's called a CMOS sensor.
CMOS sensors have very low quality/poor resolution.
sadly though, this info can be difficult to determine. research at mfg websites may yield some answers.
other performance issues can be dealt with depending on the software you choose and your PC's hardware capabilities.
