frame by frame would take years, now we know why it took so long for the movies to come out

For an amateur production, you don't have to do every frame. There are other tricks as well.

As far as the movies, early on I.m sure there were individuals of a team assigned certain frame ranges. Assign enough people and it would get done roughly the same time in a short amount of time.

Now there is more powerful software where certain elements of a film can be assigned a value.

WTF?!?! That would take ages - its ok, I think i'll be sticking to the movies :)
