I suppose it is what you want it to be, either Sunday or Monday depending on what you believe in.

6.6 What is the first day of the week?
The Bible clearly makes Saturday (the Sabbath) the last day of the week. Therefore it is common Jewish and Christian practice to regard Sunday as the first day of the week (as is also evident from the Portuguese names for the week days mentioned in section 6.2). However, the fact that, for example, Russian uses the name ``second'' for Tuesday, indicates that some nations regard Monday as the first day.
In international standard ISO-8601 the International Organization for Standardization has decreed that Monday shall be the first day of the week.
I prefer Sunday as do most calendars. I think.
Wednesday.
Very nice. :lol:Quote:

Those of us who believe in the concept of a "weekend" will note that it contains 2 days. Those being Saturday and Sunday.
This being the case, that Sunday is part of the weekend, it is difficult to see how it is the first day of the week.
However non-believers (aweekendists if you will) may see this differently
In fact you could say the weekend argument has weakened the alternative argument somewhat.
Only if your name is bigboab, who I believe is an aweekendist, so he is unlikely to.Quote:

Tommy - Yo Bob Dude, respect.

Tommy - Any plans for t'weekend.
Bob - Yup, it's puntsphere on Saturday then up to me nans for tea on Sunday.
The light dims to the sound of further joyful screams, a pigtail is being pulled.
I think that pretty much wraps this discussion up.
Monday.
EDit: but lynx does have a point.
Oden>the other gods.
I'd beleive it was monday if calendars didn't have sunday as the first day of the week.
That just confuses me.
Calenders do have Monday as the first day of the week.
At least they do here.
EDit: or calendars if you will :damnangloscan'tspell:
Exactly, what does "end" mean in "weekend"? Beginnig?Quote:

In my experience the following applies to people who are payed weekly.Quote:

I should think that the above applies to working places where the week starts on a Sunday. Unless they bought their clock cards in a 'job lot' and had to change their working week accordingly.
And what aboput unemployed gits? :unsure:Quote:
