Cheapest shop bought alcohol
I'm just wondering what the cheapest alcohol is in the UK. I mean actual alcohol (amount (ml) * volume (percent) [eg. 700ml at 40% volume = 700 * 0.4 = 280 ml of licquor], then work out an alcohol to price ratio. I'm gonna have a go on Tesco price check later, any bets?
Probably Tesco value whiskey or something.

Re: Cheapest shop bought alcohol
Netto's do a bottle of 70cl Peach Schnapps, for £3.99. (27%)
And it tastes better than Archers too. :snooty:

Re: Cheapest shop bought alcohol
there's a few places that only sell out-of-date beer, you can get boxes for a fiver, which would work out at 5/8%Vol for something like 41p per can. the only problem is drinking it all before it gets too out-of-date, such a burden but it has to be done

Doesn't drinking pure alcohol like kill you, thats 95% so im pritty sure a quick swig of that would knock you out stone cold. I think it like fucks up your lungs or kidneys or one of those sqweshy parts in your body,

Re: Cheapest shop bought alcohol
it burns your oesophagus :pinch:

Re: Cheapest shop bought alcohol
95% proof is different to 95% pure alcohol. A swig of 100% proof won't kill you.
I read about it once but can't be arsed with teh googleage.

100% proof = 50% alcohol and so on.
As opposed to the now standard ABV, Alcohol By Volume.
Or in the USA (as ever contrary) ABW, Alcohol By Weight.
:tits:
So you need to know whereof you speak.
40% ABV is not 40% proof, it's 80% proof.

Re: Cheapest shop bought alcohol
Let us now do a meaningful calculation.
My ASDA Apple shall be the benchmark.
Volume x %ABV / £cost
3000ml x 5.3% / £2.38
66.80 apple units per pound
-
Re: Cheapest shop bought alcohol
3litres for £2.38
My Stella:
3408ml X 5.2% / £5.00
35.44 string vests per pound.

Wee MacBannockburns look after the pennies.
It would appear the pounds look after themselves.

Is the World's most popliar red wine not in fact a Californian one.
I must google this.
