uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
Yes. Finally. After a year of development, 1.8 has finally gone stable. The main major feature added is Teredo and IPv6 support, but there's a slew of smaller features, changes and improvements. The changelog is absolutely massive, so check it out down below.
For those with "HTTP 400" error, that is a problem with NOD32. Please disable IMON or upgrade to 3.x.
Other major features are bypassing the Windows system cache (see the Disk Cache settings), significantly improved proxy support, and magnet URIs.

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
anybody know for a fact which trackers are or arent allowing this. i just dont want to have to keep switching back and forth because of stupid new exploits being found on software that hasnt been tested well enough.

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
Gee, what a big change log......though I bet most of it means nothing and it will be the same beyond minor bug fix
azaurus still has waaay more features.
-
Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
Geez, it has been developed for a year with a large amount of beta testers, why do you think it's buggy?
-
Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
Old news, kinda.
I've been using it since yesterday morning and it's actually really good.

Firefox 3 isn't that good anyway. The dictionary is fucked up (everytime I write a word with an apostrophe in it such as "can't" or "won't" it says that I misspelled it) and after you type a certain amount, spellchecker stops working.
And no addons work for it. None, at all. All of the good ones were left behind at FF2.
The only reason I still have FF3 is because of the awesome default skin.
-
Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
most sites have allowed 1.8 they have even allowed betas and rc
atm only SCA (SCC) havent allowed yet since it was not stable untill today,so there will be also allowed soon or it already is.
utorrent 1.8 is great piece of software :)

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
What is Teredo?
A little google search told me what I needed to know.
But whenever I click the button to install it and it gets greyed out, it comes back a few minutes later. According to the changelog that's not supposed to happen if it's installed correctly.

I don't know what FF3 you're using, but mine works perfectly, and all addons. Thats not the point though, why wouldn't the webui work in FF3 (been out a month) or Safari (been out forever)?

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
It lead to hashfail for those downloading from peers with that ver. I had to stop one of my torrent because I have such a high hashfail (2x the size of the file; about 4BG).

Maybe it's the config.

Nice attitude. Suppose everybody thinks that way, how do you think stable software will ever be developed? :(

How much do you pay for utorrent? The utorrent staff did not fulfil the contract they made with you? Sue them.

Being an active tester and poster on their forums, I can tell you that you are completely wrong. The work alus and Firon put in this awesome piece of software deserves only 's.

Good news! :) I didn't try any of the beta versions but I believe that this stable version will be cool! Let's see whether 1.7.7 will be banned or not...

Corporation or not. As long as I don't have to pay for something I don't complain. At least I would not call them lazy. IHMO feels not right.

azureus isn't really the first alternative client that hits my mind if i were to change from utorrent. i'd probably go with deluge before crappy azureus :D

I've used utorrent forever. That was the point of the post, if the staff get lazy (aka, releasing patches late), then people will end up going to Vuze, the biggest piece of trash ever.

Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
i think utorrent is the way to go as always because it uses very little memory and i dont know how they do it but simple is always the best and it doesnt get any more simpler then utorrent.
Edit: Can you guys help and list the sites that you are using utorrent 1.8 that would be a great help.
i think bitmetv is allowing it
-
Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!
scc and BitMeTV now allows 1.8 as of today
-
Re: uTorrent 1.8 Has Been Born!

I've already switched to Halite. Almost every tracker accepts it, it's more lightweight than uTorrent, and it's open source. Plus the interface is very uTorrent'ish. So it's not really that hard of a transition.
