To be honest with you mate, u would probably be better off having a rattle through the bargain bin down at your local shop, most of the half decent multiplayer games ever released go for about a fiver, and you get the added bonus of playing online if you feel like it, forget UT3 and get a nice cheap novalogic game or somethin'... if only 2 of you r playing you'll not be needing the big flashy n complicated levels in recent games ;) (and you can pick up a couple o good footie ones n all).....
2 players offline? You mean on the same computer, or on 2 networked comps? There are very few games for 2 players on the same computer at the same time, other than emulators like MAME, Snes9x, Nesten, Stella, etc. Also, Serious Sam is a good FPS that allows simultaneous play, but you need at least one joystick. Then of course there are turn based games, like Hoyle's Board and Card games.
My best (offline) multiplayers:
Delta force 2
Fifa Football (any version)
Age of empires 2
If its LAN gaming you have in mind, try Ghost Recon. There's a lot of stuff in the net, addons, mods, maps, etc. I've had tens ot hours fun on that game. Oh yeah, the best part is that its not a new game, it actually runs on my low-end-puuter :P
one word (or is it 2 hmmm) counterstrike or counter-strike
great offline potential over a LAN and if u dl it then its ok to play on ur LAN without a valid vd key :P
half-life
red faction
age of empires 2
jedi outcast
quake 3
ultima online
:P
Ultima Online is for 2 players offline? Who knew.Quote:

Unreal Tournement is kinda cool on a LAN.
Fallout Tactics is neat.
Diablo II also works.
:ninja:
LAN gaming is the best! Racing, fighting, etc...Quote:
