if i interrupt a defragging process, could it cause corruption of the files on the drive it is working on? i was thinking its possible, because it is moving parts of files around right?

I do it all time ,with the set and forget it feature of Diskeeper Pro. Screen saver mode. Never noticed a problem.
If you have a power outage while defragging then there's a good chance of data loss.
once in a while I stop the defragmenting...no problems.
unless you mean shutting the computer off (unplugging) while defragmenting...that's probably gonna give u corruption...
clear
i have a defregger running right now. its sposed to be able to pause itself, but its not responding. i want it to stop, so i thought about just killing it from the task manager, then i thought twice. i want to stop it cuz its eating all my resources and i have no clue of telling when its gunna finish, cuz its not responding.
Then end task!
without corruption? :unsure:Quote:
