i tried to burn a cd using nero and it tells me to insert a blank cd-r, but i already had a cd-r in my burner. so then i tried a new cd-r and it said the same thing. i thought nero was acting up so i unistalled it and reinstalled it, but i kept getting the error message. i tried to play an audio cd in my burner, but to no avail it didnt work:( last i tried a game cd, and it still cant read it. it wont read any cds, i upgraded the firmware for it, but it still doesnt read any cds. does this mean my cd-rw drive is gone. if so im goign to have to get a new one, so wat do yall recommend, im thinking of even going ahead and upgrading to a dvd rewriter. wat are yalls suggestions on my current cd-rw and about upgrading to a dvd-rw?

If you're gonna upgrade, get an NEC 2500A. You can get it for around $60-65. And you can hack it to burn dual layer dvd's
