Question about Windows XP Home
I bought a new version of XP Home off of eBay, and when I received it, I noticed in small print on one side it says:
Licensed for distribution only to specific countries within Middle East and Africa.
It appears to be the same as any "American" version I've seen. It's in English and all. Is there any difference, or should I ask for a refund or what?
I don't want to open it until I'm sure I'm going to keep it. :ermm:
Re: Question about Windows XP Home
It could be that it will be in some other language when you finish installation. I once installed chinese xp and couldn't change it to english inside windows.

I don't think it will be in a different language as everything on the cover is in English. I just don't want to install it and it isn't setup for my "American" keyboard or something. When I was in Mexico, their keyboards were setup completely different except for the letters. I have no idea what issues could be underlying, that's why I'm asking though.
Re: Question about Windows XP Home
Mexican keyboard is probably the same like in Spain, sounds logical that it might not be american, but you could probably change that.
Re: Question about Windows XP Home
You get what you pay for . But you can change thru setup , I would 'nt worry that , it's the Key that would scare me .
Re: Question about Windows XP Home
I'd say it might be missing some crytographic functionability. As a security obligation M$ and other US corps are not allowed to export certain technologies to certain countries.
Re: Question about Windows XP Home
My first thought was he bought it from Al Qaeda , then again I'm such a paranoid old fart . :D
