i just got a new mobo thats now AGP8X ande i needed a new card anyway and flicking thru a english pc mag (im from uk) i came across and add for a GeForce FX 5600XT 256mb card for about £70 thats with VAT and delivery and everything.
Am i write in thinking XT means an upgrade from the usual 5600?
also is this a good price becasue its about 100$ roughly and it is 256 and an FX card compared to my MMX 440.
I will be mainly using the card for playing newer games on highest settings.
As aposed to that card i have also seen a deal for an ATI Radeon 9200SE 128mb i have been led to belive ther SE is a 'watered down' version of the card offering now as much power but at a cheaper price. this card is about £35 which includes VAT and P&P.
which nout of these two cards is going to be better, or can anyone find me a better card for extream gaming for under the £70 mark Inc Vat and P&P.

an se in Radeon means it is lower end then a regular, pro or XT
however an XT in nVidia is the lower end as apose to a regular, or ultra
but out of those 2, the 5600XT is way better
-
so do you think i should go for it? or could i get a better one for the same price do you think? its going to be used for File editing and half likfe 2/doom3 on quite high settings if not maximum so i need a beast but £70 is as far as i can streach.
hay and one more think. my pc has been in for repair so i havent been on here in a while but wheres my fucking sig?

hmm where are you from?
UK?
I'll look around for ya as soon as I know where your from
-
yeah Uk in england near london. and quick respons btw ;)
-
lol thanks
that doesnt sound like a BAD price for that card, I'm sure you could find cheaper though, who makes it? ie Appolo, Aopen, Chaintech, etc
EDIT also is it OEM or Retail?
-
im unsure at the moment because its an advert in a pc mag and info is limited im just about to go to there website and check it out, and i would have thought its retail cause no mention of OEM on it or any of the parts in the add.
just if you want to have a look the place is HERE The item in discussion in about half way down the home page.
thnx for the help
Edit: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm just looked myself and find the site very unhelpful, doesnt tell much, they pritty much every and any gfx card thats either ATI or Nvidia there however im not that up-to-date on the new gfx card prices and stuff, so some help would be apreciated.

yeah that info is REALLY limited
However on newegg, which is a very good store in the us, you can get a 5600XT 256mb for 110, which converts to 58 in the UK, a little cheaper, so I'm sure theres better prices around, I'll keep lookin for you though
Kai
EDIT the one on the homepage is the 128 mb version, but i found the 256 on there anyway B)

kwl they got some good stuff on newegg however i wod prefur a Uk based company but if its going to save me money i dont mind. is the 5600XT going to be good for playing games and film editing?
-
the 5600XT is a mid range card, so nothing really really good, but it is not a budget card or anything, it would definatly do it's job, and should play HL2 w/ no problems as well.
I would find out if newegg ships to the uk though, or maybe ask someone here about any good uk sites, i'm from canada, so I'm not to familiar with stores in the UK, sorry :(
