Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing these days is ubiquitous on the Web and has had a profound effect on the Internet as a whole. Individuals share just about anything these days including videos, images, applications, and video games. More intimately, individuals on social networks such as Facebook and Myspace will reveal just about everything they possibly can about themselves to communicate with their peers.

With the recent news of Isohunt, a notable torrent index site suing the CRIA (a RIAA clone), the truth behind the new innovative Proactive network Provider Participation for P2P technology (P4P), and Nexicon creating a new system for collecting monies for copyright holders, it's almost impossible to be truly safe anymore while downloading content on a p2p network. A plausible solution has been created with the popularity of uploading and sharing files online especially videos such as Youtube and Google Video. These networks have created a new way of expressing oneself on the Internet and other sites have been created to join in on the fun and promote their site.

Introduction to Share Links

Share Links as I am calling them are the new era of file sharing on the Internet. They use the power of the Internet to work for them instead of relying on other end users. This provides greater bandwidth, more reliability and much higher completion rates. This revolution has started in the past year and is growing in popularity tremendously among Internet users although it has kept below the radar of most file-sharing e-zines. Majority of the Share Link distributors offer unlimited amount of uploads usually with a 100-1000mb cap per individual upload.

Share Links Limitations

There are of course some downsides with this type of distribution.

1. Files that remain idle for 30-90 days usually get deleted off the servers which is why this new kind of file sharing should be predominantly used for downloading the newest movies, games, applications and music as it gets released on the Internet.
2. There is usually a wait time until the downloads begin and a Captcha code. The wait time is usually between 15 - 90 seconds until the download begins. The Captcha code is a security code to hinder bots from automatically downloading files.
3. You mean run into some Share Links to find that those links no longer exist. To combat this however it is possible and greatly encouraged to verify all Share Links before you attempt to use them. You can do this usually from the distributor itself or a third party site. RapidShare lets you validate it at their site. However, most sites do not have this option. A great third-party site to check among most of the distributors is the Universal Link Checker at Rapid Hook.

The way it works is that individuals, usually to increase life span of the files and be able to catalog them better register for these sites instead of using the free feature of just uploading the files anonymously (without a user name). Once uploaded, they then copy the Share Links and post them onto their websites or another. You can find Share Links scattered all over the Internet appearing on forum boards mostly and newly created Share Links sites. For the newest movies, games, applications and tv shows I have found two efficient ways of finding these Share links.

1. Go to http://www.google.com, and search for the file you're looking for following by "download -torrent* megaupload OR rapidshare" since those are the top two sites. Try avoiding sites that lead to installing Zango. An example would without the parentheses: "batman dark knight download -torrent* megaupload OR rapidshare"[/indent]
2. Some good sites that are home to updated Share Links. They are mostly for the kind of files I have listed above.

What is useful about this way of downloading content is that you can do it without fearing Nexicom or MediaSentry or any other anti-p2p company out there since they monitor p2p clients such as Bittorrent, Kazaa, Limewire, Edonkey, etc. There will be a follow-up article in the near future pertaining to this kind of file distribution.
