A 7800GTX would do him good. :) How much money does he have?

He's looking for PCI. Not PCI Express.
There isn't much point in getting a faster card when the PCI bus is the limiting factor.
He's better off replacing the mobo.

Well, if your friend insists on being a knucklehead there is always the FX5500, but after that he's done.
It is silly and ultimately futile to keep beating dead parrots.
" Mr. Praline: 'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!! "
It's funny when John Cleese does it.
Your friend...not so much.
Re: Recommend Vid card pls.
I know, I know PCI card... He should maybe buy a new mobo too because PCI cards are useless now.
Re: Recommend Vid card pls.
Read original post, I"m still trying to convince him (ultimately its his money, not mine) to get a new mobo (preferabbly with a PCI Express slot instead of agp) and save up for a nice vid card. But ya, he's stubborn. So fx5500, is it the only good PCI card around (better than 5200)?

Yeah it's better but not worth the price for the upgrade.
Re: Recommend Vid card pls.
Ya I know, thanks for your help guys :) . I'm still trying to get him to just get a new mobo and go on from there.
