Regarding slow FTP speeds
Evening Gang,
Quick question, well possibly quick: I'm currently sharing a seedbox with a dear friend. We're both on different ISPs - he being on Comcast and myself on Cablevision. My rates while downloading via FTP from our seedbox are usually 10mbit+ on average, spiking considerably higher at times. On the contrary, my good friend is lucky to see 1mbit.
What could the possible problem be on his end?
Is it his ISP (i.e. Comcast) interfering?
Could his FTP application not be properly setup?
Any comments, advice and direction would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks FST.
Re: Regarding slow FTP speeds
Ask him to try downloading with multiple threads.
A download manager or CuteFTP will do.

Yea he's been using CuteFTP, and as I recommended to him - try multiple threads, but no luck unfortunately... Any other possible reasons for slow speeds? Is it possible Comcast is giving him a hard time?
Re: Regarding slow FTP speeds
Are you sure you are using ftp and not sftp?
Re: Regarding slow FTP speeds
Yea he's using SFTP... not FTP...
Re: Regarding slow FTP speeds
Ok sftp is slower than ftp but if you look at this guide here from fatcat
Line 14 on this is what I do were he said to start at 6 I set mine to 10
And I can max my speed out

Awesome, I'll give it a look :) Thanks a bunch Dman.
Re: Regarding slow FTP speeds
it's exactly what you call multithreading the setting pointed out.
Try a different client, as some negotiate packets in different ways.
as for multithreaded clients, i strongly recommend 3d-FTP 8.04
Re: Regarding slow FTP speeds
Great :) we'll give that client a try Cabalo~! Appreciate everyone's support...
Has anyone used Bullet FTP? Any good?
