When I bring up the windows task manager and then go to processes it says that i have like 36 processes going, even if only this forum and the task manager are running. I was wondering if this was normal or if it was a bunch of spyware/adware crap i unintentionally got. How many processes do you all have? How many is normal? <_<

Adaware is a decent program for clearing crappy adware off your PC.

ive got 34
dont worry about it
just get good AV, firewall and Adaware and u should be ok
get adaware from www.lavasoftusa.com
most of the processes are part of windows and loaded on system boot.

35.
I think that you should only worry about the USER processes, if it gets anymore than 20 then you've prolly got a lot of spyware, but here are some processes which place themselves on startup (with no possibility to remove them even though m$config claims to do so) and aren't necessary:
realsched.exe (Real Player something)
realevent.exe (Real Player something)
ctfmon.exe (Something having to do with Office XP)
Spyware processes include:
gator.exe
gain.exe
save.exe
bonzi.exe
And many more... just use Adaware to remove them.

Startup processes are a different story than ongoing ones. To sort out startup programs IMO there is none better than jv16 PowerTools. Makes it real easy. :)

Check out procexp from www.sysinternals.com . It gives you alot of information regarding each process which should help you decide whether it's dodgy or not.
