Potatoes are ingenious little buggers; that disappearing act (also known as the Greta Garbo trick) they played on the Irish way back when was particularly effective. :huh:Quote:

I was just being facetious, actually.
Years will pass before you properly appreciate the "5 years" you have invested, Gems. :)

But:
History is much more easily subject to the phenomenon of revisionism than is cold, hard science.
True history is only there (anymore) for those who are willing (or allowed) to dig. :(
oo what am i digging for ?? :01:Quote:

Forget class texts, and don't read anything printed less than 50 years ago.
Supplement this reading with as much current editorial/opinion-type material as you can absorb.
Do this intensively for about ten years, and you will have developed the skill to discern truth to an extent you can then begin reading newer stuff.
It's a bit of a tough go, especially as it would seem you are still schooling, eh? ;)
didn't they use a lot of propaganda (history word there) in those old days when you were a kipper

In all seriousness though Gembs, I doubt propaganda would have afected J2 that much when he was a kipper. When you have to share a TV between a whole street, as was the trend in those days, you don't get to see that many news reports :(
