I'm trying to phone the local council to amend some details on my council tax bill and the line is busy.

How come they don't have a queueing system?

Send them an sms, asking to call you back asap.

I've e-mailed them instead. I wonder if I will ever get an answer.

If they don't respond to the e-mail, write your note in large letters using a bright coloured vivid marker on a large sheet of paper. Then wrap the message around a brick and heave it through the council's window. I guarantee you will get a response from that message :blink:
