if i still had xp i would install sp3 as it offers a performance update and would update anyways even if it didnt. sp1 to sp2 was a nice update back then. so sp2 to sp3 should be a nice update as well. i have vista 64 bit. i dont know why people have so many problems with it. its faster than my xp ever was . i love it. no problems. ppl with crap cpus have problems because they think they can run it perfect and they cant. not trying to start an argument thread lol just voicing my thoughts. (oops) :P
wow, XP is still alive?
i have tired sp3 for windows xp, windows media player was not working properly after updating sp3 for me.
Gonna be updating it this week still probably ;)
Great move from MicroShift, hope that it's not just a bloatware addition..
Going to install it this weekend. Going to hold on to XP as long as I can since I cannot get Vista to run any faster than XP (nothing to do with my HW popwar).
im sketchy about installing it because im afraid it may not function correctly and force me to either upgrade to vista or do a complete reinstall
I installed it on two computers here and neither has had any problems. It didn't mess with verifying or anything. It was like installing SP2 only updated with more fixes. I didn't notice any change in my OS at all really. Sometimes I forget I installed it.
so far my games & programs still run fine
edit: i got the RTM build from majorgeeks
/me is sticking with XP..
:D
Having run three PC's for nearly 5 years without a format and reinstall, I prepared for the final SP3 release with a cleanup and file save, then formated out two of the three systems C drives, and installed a slipstreamed version of XP pro SP3. Aside from a few refusals to restart correctly (after installing some software or drivers, it got to the background screen but explorer didn't load) I have had no problems, Each system only did it once (deamon tools on one and ATI graphics on the other) and a restart from the front of the case made it go away. Both times the software said it had to restart the pc to load. On the original Daemon tools, after the restart it froze at the background screen but loaded after a forced restart. The same was true for the ATI graphics, it said after restarting it would preform some tests and after resstarting it froze just like the Daemon tools install. A forced resart for the graphics though never did run the tests. In case your wondering the system with daemon tools had nvidia graphics so the same thing didn't happen twice. And when I installed Daemon tools on the system with ATI graphics it went smooth, go figure.
On the tuesday apr 29 when MS was supposed to have released SP3 for download I went to the update site and there was nothing there but a new updater, WGA and the malicious software tool.
So far I'm happy but I can't tell you how much is from a fresh install and how much from SP3. OH! my Windows Media Player (version 9 from a fresh install) works fine.
I've integrated SP3 RTM (v5512) on to my original XP disc along with IE7, WMP11 and a couple of addons. All is well
work fine for me.
Hmmm, I installed it and after a few minutes lost the network and explorer became unresponsive to keyboard and mouse, just as if it needed activating.
Thank god for restore points.
im waiting wave 2(other languages).:(
I installed it, no problems or noticable changes so far. German version bytheway.
I have but it wasn`t final yet.I saw couple of blue screens and uninstalled it now is everything fine.
i installed it without any problems! and i think that my laptop is slighly faster :)
if its good maybe its time to check this 'invention'
I installed it on XP Media Centre
everything worked fine
but had to uninstall it.
Now when I find an Media Centre activation crack or a
SP3 serial for Media Centre i'll reinstall it.
Until then stay clear of it!
i have installed .... its working fine ..
I installed it... no problems. its seems the windows boot is a little faster now.
my friend told me that after SP3 RDP (remote desktop connection) stops working.
just install it, you won't notice a difference....
works very well for me
Installed it....but there's no difference

I have it running on about 100 machines right now and have not seen one issue come up yet. Been running it for the past few weeks...
Really surprised no one has reported this problem as it isn't uncommon. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949377
I tried repeatedly to install with no luck.In the end it just wasn't worth screwing with my registry so I just gave up.
Waiting to see if they patch it,otherwise I will try again when I reformat.
Just for the record I'm using Nod32 and Outpost with no other active antispyware.
I don t like it.
it cause many problems for me
I installed it awhile back. I certainly don't see any improvement on anything at all to be honest, having said that it doesn't see to slow down or cause any probs for me either so at least I know I'm totally up to date with m$ security ect...
The one thing I did have to do was re-install my graphic and audion drivers after I updated... don't know why that was but it had to be done.
xp stil a live because more people has it
I'm not install sp3,but may be it's good service
