get AVI-MPEG-ASF-WMV_Splitter and just split it at the credits
should get it down to near the size you need

Have a look, and ask around at your local computer stores, 800Mb cd's aren't that rare any more, and you should find that an 810Mb movie will fit on a 800Mb cd just fine. Otherwise, just cut a little off the end.

If it's AVI re-encode with Virtualdub.
There are two ways to reduce file size.
1. The easiest, if the audio is MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) and is higher than 128kbps, is to reduce the bitrate - 128kbps will give you an acceptable quality audio.
2. Re-encode in Xvid and reduce the video bitrate - 50kbps is approx 20meg of your file so you need to reduce the rate by 275kbps (the original bitrate is available in file>file information). Be careful with this one as it can reduce quality quite severely.
Of course you could just cut it in two with V'dub and have two CDs.
Oldjagman's health warning - if the original is VBR audio and V'dub warns you of possible audio problems DO NOT IGNORE THIS!!!
