It probably won't bugger it up, but it will run very slow if it is lacking on RAM, more specs would help.
im not entirley sure the specs coz its a mates and i was just gonna upgrade it from 98 to me but i was just wonderin if up to xp was unsafe for an old system?
I would try a midpoint , perhaps Win2000? XP shouldn't stop it from working but it might be very slow.
XP takes up about 1.6GB of hard-drive space, but the speed of your processor really needs to be at least 500megs with 256mb of ram, otherwise it will run s l o w
ok i will play it safe and get me then there shudnt b any problems :D
id stick with 98 over ME.....but i suggest 2000...i put 2000 on an OLD pc.....MUCH older than your mates i bet....but do not go to ME....
use win2k pro, that's the most stable O/S for windows so far.
ME is terrible, don't touch it!
WinXP works fairly quickly if you disable all the glitzy visual effects.
If you don't want XP, I'd go for Win98 SE and use Cacheman to improve its stability.
