i was using smart ripper to make a dvd rip, and when i was ripping off of the dvd, the speed was 1.5x-2.5x. and i have a 16x dvd rom drive. wtf?

the computer may not keep up with the speed as it has alot of data to move etc

I read somewhere that when ripping,some drives drop to a dirty low speed, i cant remember where but i think it was a sony dru510 they were talking about. Do you have the latest firmware for the unit?
this is an excellent drive, i use it and have no probs, burns anything, 4.7 gb DVDs in 12:36.
