Dvd Players (with divx support)
I'm looking at a new dvd player to buy. I want it to have divx/mpeg4 playback.
Searching on Amazon.com I found these two::
Norcent DP-220 DVD PLAYER WITH DIVX PLAYBACK
Philips DVP642 DivX-Certified Progressive-Scan DVD Player
I remeber reading a thread a long time ago about this one divx player that was supposed to be the best at the time, but of course, I forgot which one that was. :P
What do you guys reccomend/have?
edit:fixed url

Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
The Philips you've mentioned works rather well.
jpg, mpg, mp3, vcd, svcd, divx and [most] xvid.
wmv, wma didn't work and i've had 4 xvids that didn't work.
check www.videohelp.com for even more info about virtually every player out there.

The Philips DVP642 was certainly all the rage for the 110Volt market, but why not look out for DVD recorders with Divx playback?
They are certainly no more expensive than the non-Divx versions, possibly cheaper in a lot of cases, and not much more expensive than straightforward Divx players.

i have the philips one and love it. ;)
Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
I currently have two of the Phillips and they work great. One trick to remember is if you start an XviD and it looks mushy click the Menu button on the right twice and it usually takes care of it. Another is if you hold the Stop button for a few seconds it will open and close the tray, Another good thing is you can buy them at WalMart Frys BestBuy CompUSA and others at around $69 with a local store return and warranty so you can make sure you like it...
Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
Sweet thanks. Sorry for the delay, I just bought a new car (2002 Honda CR-V) YEAH!! So I've been a little busy buying tags and such!
But I think I'm going to go for the Philips.

What do you mean by this? A hardware DVD player that supports Dvd recording, but also plays back divx? Do you mean something like this ::

Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
That's the sort of thing I meant.
Now about £100 (+tax) in UK so they should be well under $200.
Edit: but obviously not the HD ones.
