I was wondering what programs are the best for ripping and encoding divx movies from a dvd. I would like a program that could calculate how much space it will take up (either kb or mb). I used FlaskMPEG but I had to guess what settings to use because it didn't have any features to calculate it.

Just d/l a bitrate calculator u can then stick to the progs ur used to :)
advanced divx birate calculator !! is easy ,and acurate :)

I can recommend the GordianKnot package from http://www.doom9.org
Just follow the guides that can be found at the same site and you can make excellent rips in no time.
