For one thing we technically don't elect a leader and the electoral college only applies to the President (and Vice President). If you want to compare it to the popular vote though the main difference is each States gets so many electoral votes determined by a winner take all method. Besides giving unfair weight to lower population States, it also creates a situation ripe for gerrymandering. Canada's ridings are more based around population so places with fewer people have less say in determining winners and losers.Quote:
