There is definitely room for an independent currency that is not under the control of any large bank or institution, but BitCoin (or at least what it ended up becoming) doesn't tick all the right boxes.

Cryptocurrency is like most nfts, they have no intrinsic value. The problem with that is if something has no real value then any idiot is free to attach whatever price to it he wants. ie ip stocks Things were probably better back in the olden days when only rich people were cunts and the gold reserve acted as a failsafe. I'll never forgive Goldfinger for fucking that up.

Not sure if you mean coin of the realm or apartments. If apartments then as far as I understand, pricing is somewhat dependent of whether there are any Blacks living next door or not so it's not completely subjective.
