I took a rare dip into Fox News the other night and they were reviewing Northern Lights (Golden Compass as the Merkins would have it). PMSL! It is apparently a "disgusting godless movie which should be shunned". SGG was tickled when I told her, I think it is her favourite series of books. No 1 son is a big fan too but he is loathe to go and see the movie because he is fearful it will be too diluted for the mass market. He is a bit of purist on that front. One titbit I picked up on this review though is that only 0.4% of the US population are atheists in which case I think may have met them or spoken to them all. That or they were talking utter bollocks....always a possibility I guess.

I saw a bit about church attendance that said an overwhelming majority of Americans claim to go to church regularly at the same time that actual church attendance figures are dropping.

Apparently, the Church of NASCAR/NFL doesn't count.

I have to say that I haven't met that many true atheists :earl:. I mean chaps of an absolute certainty that there is no God, no afterlife, nothing else, this itvariety. Loads and loads of "Well I don't believe but obviously I can't actually be 100% certain like" plenty of them about.
